this festival,
the form is
combining
competition
with exhibition;
combining
concentrated
works with
dispersed
works; combining
panorama show
with story
style; combing
natural sand
sculpture
works with
color works.
And all works
is showing
in both South
beach and
other scenic
spots.
(1)The international
competition
of the Fifth
China Zhoushan
International
Sand Sculpture
Festival
In
the international
competition,
the content
of all works
is connected
to the theme
"silk
road ".
The sand sculpture
committee
fixes in ten
sand stacks
with the same
gauge, invites
8 foreign
sculptors,
who have different
nationalities,
and 2 domestic
sculptors
to attend
the international
competition,
and sets up
first prize,
second prize,
third prize,
fourth prize
each one and
six prizes
for excellent
works.
(2)Combining
immobile works
with performance
In
this festival,
the sand sculpture
works are
combined with
performance
about special
customs and
practices
of the districts
along the
silk road
.In South
Beach, performance
area has been
set up and
wonderful
songs and
dances will
be given by
folk players
from northwest
of China.
With the distinctive
music, tourists
will feel
that they
really witness
the action
of Silk Road.
(3)Both
watching and
joining
In
this festival,
tourists not
only watch
and enjoy
the sand sculpture
works, but
also take
part in carving.
A special
area is opened
up for tourists
to carve sand
sculpture
works themselves,
and many prizes
for entertainment
are set up.
(4)In
order to lengthen
the tour routes,
prolong the
tour time
for visiting
and make the
activities
in every scenic
spot perfect,
the sand sculpture
committee
plans to put
small scale
sand sculpture
works, which
not only reflect
the content
of the silk
road, but
also incarnate
the theme
of the scenic
areas in six
spots.

4.Scale
There
are 50 single
works, which
used sand
of 20,000
cubic meters.
The highest
peak is about
13 meters.
(1)The
area for exhibition
is 300 meters
long and 50
meters wide,
from the entrance
of the tour
path to the
east gate
to the South
Beach. The
shape of this
area is an
irregularly
curvilinear.
The 100-meter
area in the
front is for
international
competition;
the other
200-meter
area is for
exhibiting.
(2)Accessorical
exhibition
area: there
are 6 single
works in other
scenic areas
for showing
to public.
